Hiking around Hugarró

Botnsdalur Valley is home to an exceptional abundance of trees, a rare sight in Iceland. While predominantly made up of native birch forests, it also includes a mix of non-native species. In the fall, the valley transforms into a vibrant tapestry of colors, offering a stunning visual spectacle.

This area is a hiker’s paradise, offering more than just the trail to Glymur waterfall. Explore the gentle, flatter sections leading up to it, as well as the numerous smaller waterfalls along the Hvalskarðsá River.
